Muslim’s Solitude, the Beginning of the Road to Karbala (2): The Migration of Blood, the Beginning of the Road to Karbala

Muslim: Vanguard of the Field of Truth and Falsehood
Muslim ibn Aqil was not merely Imam Husayn’s (peace be upon him) sole envoy to Kufa; he was a messenger whose reach extended across history, the standard-bearer of the first confrontation between the front of light and the front of deceit, and the vanguard of a caravan whose destination was Karbala. His movement was not merely a political mission; it was the dawn of the Proof on a horizon not yet darkened by the dust of sedition. Muslim was an embodiment of the historical imamate of the Master of Martyrs (peace be upon him), a mirror of Alid patience, truthfulness, and steadfastness in an age when hypocrisy had donned the mask of loyalty.
Kufa: City of Allegiance and Disloyalty
Muslim entered Kufa, a city that at first received him with allegiance and clasped his hand in loyalty. The people wrote letters, gave their word, and entrusted him with their hearts; and he, with pure good faith and radiant belief, conveyed news of their support to the Imam and, at first glance, saw Kufa as ready and obedient. Yet this tranquil appearance was not peace; it was the formation of a storm. Before the dust of the promises had settled upon the ground, the Umayyans’ true face became clear: those who came with the language of oaths, attacked with the sword of oppression, and, with the gold of deception, blinded eyes and enslaved hearts.
The Encirclement of Truth in the Whirlpool of Deceit
With the arrival of Ubayd Allah ibn Ziyad, Kufa became trapped in the grip of fear and deception. What had been allegiance yesterday became tyranny today; what had appeared to be a covenant became a measure of covenant-breaking. The Umayyans cast the shadow of their fabricated grandeur over the city—a heavy, cold, and black shadow. Many of those who had stood yesterday in the ranks of allegiance stood today in the ranks of denial, for the flash of gold had stolen the light of discernment from their eyes, and the satanic authority of the regime had driven their trembling hearts to submission. Amid this assault of deceit, truth became a stranger; yet it did not remain silent.
The Fate of Estrangement
The true Shiites and sincere devotees of Imam Husayn (peace be upon him) either fell upon the soil of martyrdom or were confined in the prison of oppression. Muslim ibn Aqil, that loyal and solitary man, after a hard and unequal battle, was seized by treachery and the sword and martyred unjustly. He departed, but his departure was not an ending; it was a beginning—the beginning of the season of blood, the start of the outcry, and the first page of the register of Karbala.
And today… it is our turn
Muslim departed so that his master might be aided; Husayn came so that truth might endure; and we remain so that we may not lose our way with this lamp and may reach our master. In an age when the world’s voices have multiplied, at a time when truth is sometimes lost amid the uproar, we must carry the light higher: by disseminating the teachings of the Master of Martyrs, by aiding the Imam of the Age, and by standing beside truth even if we are left alone. This path continues… and every step we take is a continuation of those very steps of Muslim. For aiding حضرت Mahdi—may God hasten his ظهور.
